Description
Basford Hall Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed dressed and squared stone, with finer dressing on the front and larger blocks. The roof is covered with machine tiles and features pitched verge parapets. A brick ridge stack is positioned to the left of center.
The building is two stories high, with a cellar and attic, and has a front that features three windows on the left and one on the right. There is a cavetto string at the first-floor level that steps up to the right-hand end. The left side has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, consisting of three sets of 1:3:1-light chamfered mullioned windows, while a boarded doorway is located to the right of the center window. The right-hand bay is widely spaced and has raised ground-floor windows, which are situated under a raised string, with two stepped lights above a pair of cellar windows. The gable on the right side includes a two-light attic window and a similar three-light window on the first floor.
