Description

This is a mid-19th century lodge, extended around 1882, originally serving Basford Hall. The lodge is constructed of coursed dressed and squared stone with a tiled roof, featuring twin shafts rising from end, ridge and side stacks.

The lodge has a two-storey, three-window facade divided into two distinct parts. The left wing is set back and features a symmetrical arrangement of two stone mullioned windows, each with a diamond-shaped light. A gabled porch projection rises two stories. Above the Tudor-arched entrance is a small single-light window with a Sneyd coat-of-arms in the apex. The projecting wing to the right is taller and has a corbelled gable with verge parapets, corbelled kneelers, a finial, and a datestone inscribed "1882." Below the gable is a three-sided stone oriel window, supported by massive corbels above the first-floor string, and a three-light stone mullion and transom window.
