Description

This is a mileplate from the early 19th century, made of cast iron. It has a rectangular shape with a triangular head and is set into a drystone retaining wall. The plate is inscribed with the words: "TO / ALTON / ABBEY / 2 / MILES". It is located on a former drive that starts at Threapwood Lodge and leads to Alton Towers, passing by Pink Lodge along the way.
