Description
Moor Court is a country house dated 1861, with later additions from 1913. It was built by the Bolton family, who were manufacturers of Oakamoor goods. The house is constructed of ashlar and has fish-scale tile roofs with plain tile bands, along with ashlar stacks featuring cylindrical shafts. Designed in a Neo-Jacobean style, the principal alignment faces east-west.
The south front has three storeys and an attic, with a lower, single-bay wing of two storeys and an attic to the left. The roughly four bays are arranged with the two central bays under a shaped gable. There is a central break to the left-hand wing, also beneath a similar shaped gable, with casement windows. The west front features two storeys and an attic, with six bays; the north and south bays have shaped gables, with that on the north side projecting. The east front has a two-storey porch, with the date 1861 inscribed on the parapet, containing a pointed niche with a statue of St. George.
