Description

The Church of the Holy Trinity is a parish church built in 1832 by J.P. Pritchett of York. It is constructed of ashlar stone with edged herringbone tooling and features a slate roof. The church has a west tower with diagonal buttresses, and the nave and chancel are combined over a basement, with additional buttresses at the bay divisions and corners, which are placed diagonally. There is also a north-west vestry, and the overall design is in the Gothic style.

The west tower consists of three stages, each marked by strings and topped with a crenellated parapet and panelled corner pinnacles. The south door features a Tudor arch with panelled spandrels and a returned hood mould. The second stage has single trefoil-headed lights with hood moulds that terminate in heads, while the belfry openings consist of two cinquefoil-headed lights under a square head, also with a returned hood mould.

The nave and chancel include square-headed windows with three cinquefoil-headed lights and returned hood moulds. The east window, which has a Tudor arch, contains five cinquefoil-headed lights with returned hood moulds. The basement features three-light chamfer mullioned windows on the north and south sides, along with a four-light east window flanked by two doors.
