Description

This is a mileplate located in Dimmingsdale, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and is rectangular in shape, set into a drystone retaining wall. The plate is inscribed with the text: "TO / ALTON / ABBEY / 2 ½ MILES". This mileplate marks a former drive that starts at Threapwood Lodge and leads to Alton Towers via Pink Lodge.
