ALTON C.P. NABB LANE (South-west side) SK 04 SE 7/46 Paradise Farmhouse and attached stable - II

Farmhouse and stable. Mid-C18 with C19 extension. Red brick with ashlar plinth and dressings and rusticated ashlar quoins of unequal length; ashlar extension; plain tile roof with coped verges on shaped kneelers; 'brick integral end stacks. T-shaped plan; main range aligned north-east/south-west facing south-east, 2 parallel rear wings aligned north-west/south-east; the south-west wing is C19; stable attached to north-west end of main range on the same alignment. House to left, low attached stable to the right. House: 2 storeys and gable-lit attic with storey band; 2 bays, 2-light chamfer mullioned windows containing iron casements, the window to ground floor left has been widened to the left but retains its mullions, extra single-light window to ground floor right; central door with raised surround and raised keystone. Stable: large double doors. Each gable of the house has a 2-light chamfer mullioned attic window, that to the right hand gable is blocked; the north-west rear wing has a 3-light chamfer mullioned first floor window to the north-west.
