Description

Paradise Farmhouse and attached stable is a farmhouse and stable built in the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century extension. The structure is made of red brick, featuring an ashlar plinth and dressings, as well as rusticated ashlar quoins of unequal length. The extension is also made of ashlar. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has coped verges on shaped kneelers, along with brick integral end stacks.

The building has a T-shaped plan, with the main range aligned northeast to southwest and facing southeast. It consists of two parallel rear wings aligned northwest to southeast, with the southwest wing dating from the 19th century. The stable is attached to the northwest end of the main range and follows the same alignment.

The farmhouse has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, featuring a storey band. It has two bays with two-light chamfer mullioned windows that contain iron casements. The ground floor left window has been widened to the left but still retains its mullions, while there is an additional single-light window on the ground floor right. The central door has a raised surround and a raised keystone.

The stable has large double doors. Each gable of the house features a two-light chamfer mullioned attic window, although the right-hand gable window is blocked. The northwest rear wing includes a three-light chamfer mullioned window on the first floor facing northwest.
