Description

The building at 5 Vicarage Row is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of ashlar stone featuring herringbone tooling, with a plain tile roof, a coped verge, and a brick ridge stack. The house follows a two-cell plan, aligned north-south with its east-facing front. The main entrance is located at the south end of the east front, opening into the smaller of the two bays. The exterior features cyma reversa moulded eaves and three windows with 20th-century casements, along with a 20th-century glazed door on the left-hand side. Inside, the larger north bay has chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The south bay is largely occupied by the staircase, which extends up behind the chimney stack.
