Description
The Hempbutt is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations and additions made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone featuring herringbone tooling and some edged detailing, topped with a plain tile roof that has coped verges. The house has a brick integral end stack and a ridge stack. It is oriented north-south and faces east, with a southern extension added in the 19th century. The building stands two storeys high and has a coved eaves band. It consists of six bays with casement windows; the three bays on the right are part of the original 18th-century structure. The facade features a central door and a central blind window, both with a 4-centred head and chamfered surround. The Hempbutt is noted for being a complete example of its type.
