Description

The Farmhouse and adjoining stable is a building that dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century, mid-19th century, and mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill on a brick plinth, along with brick replacement walling and refacing, topped with plain tiled roofs. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the main part consisting of two framed bays aligned roughly east to west, and large external chimneys at both gable ends, the east gable end chimney having tiled offsets. The intersecting wing at the rear east bay also has two framed bays. The structure includes parts that are single storey with an attic featuring half-dormers, as well as parts that are two storeys and an attic.

The framing of the main part has been reconstructed and includes four panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces at the first floor level of the west gable end. The collar and tie-beam trusses, which have two collars and struts, are partly visible at the gable ends. The rear wing has three rows of panels at the first floor level and a similar truss with a single collar, supported by four struts beneath and a V-strut above.

On the south front elevation, the windows are 20th-century casements, with the ground floor featuring a 2-light window and two 4-light windows, along with two gabled half-dormers that have cross-casements. There is an attic light in the east gable end and a small square light at the front of the chimney base. The main entrance is located on the west side of the rear wing, which has a 20th-century hipped-roofed porch, a 2-light window, and a door.

Additionally, there is a 19th-century addition to the gable end of the rear wing, which has two levels and two bays, featuring a loft door and window in the gable end, both with cambered heads. A 19th-century single-storey addition is also present on the east side of the rear wing.

The stable, which adjoins the west gable end of the main part, dates from the 18th century and is constructed of brick with a plain tiled roof featuring parapets at the gable ends. It has two levels and two bays, with a single-light ground floor window on the front elevation and a stable door at the rear, as well as a single-light ground floor window and a loft door in the gable end. There is also a 19th-century lean-to addition that connects both the farmhouse and the stable at the rear.
