Description

67 Marshside Road and nos. 2b and 2c Longacre is a former farmhouse with an attached stable block and barn, likely built in the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the early 20th century and additional farm buildings added in the late 19th century. The house is constructed of hand-made red brick, with the front pebbledashed, while the farm buildings are made of red brick in English garden wall bond, featuring five plus one courses. The roofs are slate and are at three slightly different levels, with a stone ridge on the house.

The building has a long range positioned at right angles to Marshside Road, centered on the house, which has a two-unit single-depth plan and a rear outshut. The stable block is located to the left of the house, and the barn is to the right. The house is two storeys high with a two-window range that is almost symmetrical. It features a 20th-century glazed gabled porch that is slightly offset to the right, two large altered casements on each floor, and gable chimneys. At the rear, there is a two-storey outshut attached to the first bay, with a lean-to in the angle.

The stable block is one-and-a-half storeys tall and has three small oblong windows and two doorways arranged alternately. There is a circular pitching hole with damaged glazing above the center window, a gablet above this, and a ridge ventilator at the back. The barn includes a square-headed wagon doorway with a wooden lintel, a rectangular domestic window to the left that is glazed like the house, and a doorway to the right, both of which have flat-arched heads. The interior has not been inspected.
