Description
Croston's Brow: Second Cottage is a house, likely built in the 18th century, that has been altered and extended. It features white painted render, probably over brick, and has a steeply-pitched slate roof. The building has a single-depth, three-bay plan with an additional one-bay extension to the left.
The exterior is a single storey with a five-window range. The original three-bay section includes a small gabled porch offset to the right, with two windows on the left and one on the right. All windows are 20th-century, slightly bowed, two-light casements with glazing bars. There is a ridge chimney offset to the left. The two-window extension to the left has one similar window and one altered window, and its roof has a shallower pitch.
The interior has not been inspected. This cottage is a recognizable example of a type of dwelling that was once common in the area and forms a group with First Cottage and Nos 1, 3, and 4 Cotty's Brow.
