Description

The Canal Mile Post, located 22 yards north of the Top Lock Bridge on the Trent and Mersey Canal, is dated 1819. It is situated on the west tow-path and is made of painted cast iron. This bollard-type mile post features an angled top plate that is lettered with the distances to Shardlow, which is 49 miles away, and Preston Brook, which is 43 miles away.
