Description
Meaford Hall: The Nursery House is an early 18th-century building that was remodeled between 1874 and 1877 by Burn and McVicar Anderson. It is constructed of stone and has two storeys. The windows feature keyed surrounds, with three small-paned casements on the first storey and four renewed sash windows on the ground storey. The doorway has been reconstructed, retaining original pilasters with foliated capitals and a decorative shell ornament above the cornice. Below this is an inscribed tablet noting that John Jervis, Earl St Vincent, was born in the house on January 20, 1735. The building has a parapet, coped gable ends, and a tiled roof. It is recognized for its historic interest. The house was once connected to The Manor House by a wing and covered passage, which have since been demolished. The interior has undergone significant alterations.
