Description
The canal milepost located opposite the Harecastle Tunnel portals on the Trent and Mersey Canal is likely from between 1824 and 1827. It is made of cast iron and features a cylindrical column that supports two panels. The panels are inscribed with the distances: "SHARDLOW / 62 / MILES" and "PRESTON / BROOK / 30 MILES".
