Description
The canal milepost located outside the Harecastle Tunnel portals on the Trent and Mersey Canal is a cast-iron structure, originally likely made between 1824 and 1827 but recently re-cast. It features a cylindrical column that supports two panels, which are inscribed with the distances: "Shardlow 61 miles" and "Preston Brook 31 miles."
