Description
The barn, now used as shops, is located to the southeast of the Wolseley Arms. It dates back to the 17th century and was restored and relocated around 1986. The structure features timber framing with brick nogging, set on a coursed rubble stone plinth, and has a plain tile roof. It consists of three bays, with box framing made up of square panels and angle struts. The principal roof trusses include a tie-beam and queen struts, along with clasped purlins and wind braces beneath the purlins. The central bay is open on both the east and west sides, featuring large double plank doors. Internally, the bays are separated by large raking struts that connect to the upper rail of the wall-frame. There are lean-to additions made of stone and brick on the west side of the barn. This building was moved from Parchfield Farm on Colton Road in Colton. The Wolseley Arms mentioned in the address is not a listed building.
