Description

The cemetery railings and gates in Newcastle under Lyme date from around 1866. They feature a rusticated stone plinth wall topped with steep coping, which supports cast-iron railings. These railings are divided into four sections by hollow cast piers that are capped with fleur-de-lys. Each section is decorated with ornate cusped tracery. The main entrance gates are set back in the center, with foot gates located on either side of the main wall line, although one of these foot gates has never been used.
