Description

Snape Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks on a chamfered plinth, featuring red brick patching in the 17th-century section and roughcast red brick in the later additions. The building has plain tiled roofs and is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic. The front has three bays, all with stone mullioned and transomed windows; the left-hand bay has four lights, while the other bays have three lights each. The central entrance features a late 19th-century boarded door with a plain rectangular overlight. There are end stacks, with the internal stack on the left and an external stack on the right, both of which have been rebuilt in engineering brick. There is a blocked three-light mullion window to the right of the stack on the right-hand gable end, with possible traces of another window to the left. To the rear, there is a lower two-storey mid-19th-century brick addition with a double-span roof at right angles to the main building, which includes three three-light casement windows (the ground floor windows have cambered heads) and a ridge stack on the right-hand section. A wide tapering purplish-brown stack is located at the junction with the 17th-century part to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
