Description

The Fitch Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 12 meters northwest of the Church of St Mary and All Saints in Whitmore. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed from sandstone ashlar. The tomb has a rectangular plan and features a slightly projecting moulded top ledger with fluted corner pilasters. The top ledger commemorates Susanna Fitch, who died in 1835. The moulded inscription panels on the long sides are currently indecipherable due to the accumulation of soil around the tomb, noted during a re-survey in 1984.
