Description

Lake House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century but has seen significant additions and alterations, mainly in the late 19th century and mid-to-late 20th century. The building is timber framed and sits on a sandstone plinth, with painted brick infill and additional structures. The roofs, added in the late 19th century, are machine tiled and feature fishscale bands.

The house is two storeys high, with the hall likely consisting of two and a half framed bays, and a slightly projecting jettied cross-wing on the right. The framing has been largely renewed and includes irregular square and rectangular panels with short tension braces. The left gable end has a jowled wall post and is partially clad in brick. The windows are irregularly placed, with three small mid-20th century casements on both the ground and first floors. The jettied cross-wing has been significantly altered, featuring a late 20th-century door and flanking windows on the ground floor, along with planted framing and a 20th-century bay window above.

At the rear, there is a two-storeyed addition from the late 19th century made of painted brick, which has a 20th-century ridge stack. To the right of the cross-wing, there is another extension that features 20th-century timber framing designed to resemble 17th-century work.
