Description

Town House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 16th century and was remodeled in the late 18th century, with significant later additions and alterations. The building features a timber frame and brick construction, now covered in stucco at the front and roughcast at the rear, with plain tile roofs that have cresting and brick ridge stacks. Originally designed in an 'H'-plan, it has a hall of bays and projecting cross-wings, likely each consisting of three bays, along with additions to the right and rear.

The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a symmetrical window arrangement of 1:1:1. The windows are late 20th century plastic-framed sashes but are set in 18th-century openings. There is a lean-to addition, possibly from the 18th century, located between the cross-wings, featuring a moulded parapet and a late 19th-century door to the left. Another entrance is through a late 19th-century timber porch situated at the angle between the right-hand cross-wing and a mid-19th-century addition that is at right angles to the right. The gables of the cross-wings are adorned with fretted bargeboards and finials from the mid-to-late 19th century, and the exposed purlin ends are visible.

At the rear of the left-hand cross-wing, there is a stable-wing from the mid-to-late 19th century, which includes a hayloft above and double doors beneath a wide gabled break. Inside, the ground floor features moulded and chamfered beams from the late 16th century, with small sections of the timber frame exposed.
