Description
The Broade/Halmarach memorial is a chest tomb located about 1 meter north of the north chancel chapel of the Church of All Saints in Madeley. It dates from around 1769 and is constructed from sandstone ashlar with a rectangular plan. The tomb features a moulded capping and reeded corner pilasters. The inscription panels, which are mostly indecipherable, commemorate John Halmarach, who died in 1769, on the west side; his wife Elizabeth on the south side; Philip Broade on the east side; and possibly Maria on the north side. Additionally, the top ledger includes further inscriptions for Alice Broade, who died in 1801, and Alice Rowley, who died in 1802, the wife of John Rowley of Bower End.
