Description
Wisteria Cottage is a house that likely dates from around 1700, with extensions added in the early 19th century and further alterations made later. The building is constructed of painted brick in English garden wall bond and features plain tile roofs with purplish-brown brick ridge stacks.
The cottage has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window front. The first floor has three-light late 19th-century casements with cambered heads and raised keystones, while the ground floor features canted bay windows. There is a half-glazed door located under a plain pediment between the second and third windows from the left, and a moulded eaves cornice runs along the top. At the rear on the left, there is a long two-storeyed addition that also has three windows with cambered heads and raised keystones, along with a dentil eaves cornice. Additionally, there is a short range that runs parallel to the main range at the front.
Inside, the left-hand front room showcases spine and cross beams with straight-cut chamfer stops, with one of the beams being partly supported by an early 19th-century cast-iron cylindrical pillar. The roof features a massive single purlin.
