FAREWELL AND CHORLEY C.P. FORD LANE (north side) The Hill Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid-C18 enlarged early C19. Red brick; tiled roofs on dentilled, cogged and canted eaves course and with verge parapets; end stacks. Complex T-shaped plan, the result of a shift in frontage from south to east. Two storeys and attic: the east front is dominated by a tall gable with a range of segmental-headed 3-light casements; lower (but flush) wing to left of one window, the lower a transomed casement with segmental head; entrance set against line of gable with canopy and boarded door. Set back wing to right of gable, early C19 and of two windows with the entrance run up against the gable: round arched with C20 glazed door. The former frontage faces south, banded at floor levels, formerly of 3 segmental headed casements (smaller to to centre) now partly obscured by a gabled projection which conceals the ground floor centre and first floor right.
