Description
A group of eight chest tombs, dating from the mid-19th century, is located approximately 15 yards west of the Church of St. John the Baptist. These tombs are made of stone and feature moulded bases, reeded corner pilasters, and stepped caps with moulded edges. The memorials commemorate Thomas Hollier Allen, who died in 1831; Mary Winter, who died in 1834; James Allen, who died in 1838; John Winter, who died in 1839; an illegible inscription with a date of 1839; John Winter, who died in 1843; Richard Allen, who died in 1848; and another illegible inscription. All the memorials are identical in design, suggesting they were produced in the same workshop. They are included for their group value.
