Description

Bridge 42 is a road bridge located on the Trent and Mersey Canal, built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features an ashlar parapet with a projecting lower string and flat coping. The bridge has a broad, stone-dressed elliptical arch that accommodates the towpath, which is a distinctive feature compared to many other bridges on this canal. The carriageway is cambered over the span. Bridge 42 is situated next to Bridge 43.
