Description

Mill Bridge number 39 is a canal road bridge located off Lichfield Road (A38) and dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone coping and features a single span with a humped back and a segmental headed arch. The bridge has swept wings that end in piers at all four corners, with stone springing stones. Minor repairs have been made, including to part of the south parapet wall. The Trent and Mersey Canal, which this bridge serves, was built between 1766 and 1777 by James Brindley and Hugh Henshall.
