Description

Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an early 17th century core that has been refaced in the mid-18th century and 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with some parts rendered, and features a tiled roof with end stacks and a central stack. The building has a rectangular compacted U-shaped plan, which was formerly an L-plan of the parlour cross-wing type.

On the south elevation, the structure is rendered in two parts. To the left is an 18th century gabled cross-wing that has two storeys and an attic, characterized by raised bands at the plinth, first floor, ceiling, and attic levels. This section includes 2-light small-pane casement windows on the attic and ground floor. To the right is a two-storey mid-19th century wing that is flush with the cross-wing, featuring dentilled eaves and segmental-headed casement windows, with a 2-light window on the first floor and a 3-light window on the ground floor. There is a gabled single-storey porch against the cross-wing, which has an arched entry and overlight. The raised bands continue on all exposed faces of the cross-wing.

Inside, the hall or house place features an ogee-chamfered cross beam with stepped run-out stops, as well as chamfered joists. The south-west room has an early 18th century coved-moulded plaster cornice on the ceiling.
