Description
The Goats Head Inn is a 17th-century house that has been converted into an inn, with later alterations and restoration carried out in the mid to late 19th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a plain tile roof. The building has a brick integral end stack and a brick ridge stack. It consists of three framed bays and has a lobby entry. The structure is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic and includes three windows with 20th-century casements, as well as a door located to the right of the centre.
The framing of the building mainly consists of small rectangular panels, with three panels extending from the plinth to the wall plate, interrupted by rails. There are small square panels between the ground floor and first floor windows, and some decorative framing features parallel diagonal braces that form chevron patterns. The framing of the north bay has been largely reconstructed following damage from a lorry accident. The north gable has been heavily restored and includes jowelled corner posts. Inside, the inn boasts stopped and chamfered ceiling beams, along with pieces of 17th-century carved oak panelling.
