Description

The churchyard railings and gate, located approximately 100 meters to the west of the Church of St Mary, date from the late 18th century or early 19th century, and may have been relocated. Made of wrought and cast iron, the railings are about 30 meters long and stand approximately 2 meters high. They feature spearheads with a top rail positioned close to the heads and dog rails below, connected to the main verticals with ogee-curved details. The top rail ramps up to a gateway situated towards the north end, which has a bordered, framed surround that is elaborately crested at the sides and center. The square-headed gate, which fits within this frame, includes dog rails and scrolled motifs at the center and head.
