Description
No. 9 is a lodge that was formerly part of The Paddock, which has since been demolished. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building features rendered brickwork and a low-pitched hipped slate roof with a central stack. It is two stories tall with a two-window front. There is a raised band at the first-floor cill level, and the windows are glazing bar sashes with raised keystones, although many have been replaced by 20th-century casements that mimic the original style. The central entrance is framed by a Tuscan doorcase with a heavily moulded cornice, and above the six-panel door is a low-relief plaque depicting figures. To the east, facing down Church Road, there is a small enclosure of cast iron spearhead railings with dog rails.
