Description
This is a cowshed, now used as a storage outbuilding, dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber frame set on a stone rubble plinth, clad in weatherboards and steel sheets, with remnants of former wattle panels. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the structure consists of two framed bays with small extensions at each end.
The building is single storey. The front (southeast) side has a boarded door on the right. The rear (northwest) side includes a small window light on the left, and the central section of weatherboarding has been replaced by steel sheets.
Inside, the timber frame is largely intact, with wall and sill plates, rails, and studs that include tension braces and square panels, some of which have applied wattle panels. The large jowled wall posts support trusses featuring a deeply cambered tie beam with twin struts leading to principals, along with a single trenched-purlin roof and a diagonally-set trenched ridge piece. There are later rafters and battens, and the floor is made of cobbles.
