Description
Woodlands Cottage is an early 19th-century house located in Ashford Carbonell, near Tinkler’s Hill. The house is constructed of brick with a slate roof, and features integral brick gable-end stacks. The original front range dates from the 19th century, with later 19th-century extensions to the rear.
The front facade is two storeys high and has a three-window arrangement. The windows are 8/6 sashes with Gothic-style traceried glazing bars to the upper, round-headed portions of the windows, set in brick round-arched openings. A central doorway has a semicircular fanlight and is sheltered by a bracketed flat canopy with a cornice. The eaves are finished with cogged brickwork. The rear of the house is obscured by single- and two-storey extensions, with dentil brick eaves. A two-storey rear extension wing, facing west, includes a two-window range. The upper floor features 2-light casements, while the ground floor has 6/6 sashes in brick segmental-arched openings.
The interior of the house was not inspected at the time of listing.
