8/132 Linhay with attached walls - and cart shelter at west end approx. 80m east of 21.8.86 Shelvock Farmhouse (formerly listed as Linhay, Shelvock Farm)

Linhay with attached walls and cart shelter. Probably late C18 with later alterations. Roughly coursed and dressed sandstone rubble on north with weatherboarded timber frame to upper level on south, part clad in corrugated iron, but formerly open on both levels; graded slate roof. Shelter sheds to ground floor with continuous hay-loft above; regularly coursed and dressed sandstone walls with flat coping at right-angles to south form rectangular enclosures. Loft now supported on cast-iron pillars with carved wooden pads to top. North side has 4 rectangular openings to first floor and plain doorway to right of centre. South-facing 2-bay cart shelter at west end. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (November 1986) but said to have straight tension braces visible to timber framed upper storey and king-post roof in 18 bays. Shelvock Farmhouse is not included in this list.
