Description
The Phipps Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 10 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Peter in Cound. It dates from 1815 and is made of grey sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a plinth, semi-circular side panels with radial spandrels, and flanking reeded pilaster strips. The end panels are raised and fielded with quadrant corners and also have flanking reeded pilaster strips. A moulded cornice tops the chamfered design. This memorial commemorates Mr. Thomas Phipps, who died on 16 March 1815.
