Description

The Phipps Monument is a chest tomb made of stone, dating from the 19th century. It is located approximately 30 meters east of the south aisle of the Church of St Mary in Charlbury. The south tablet commemorates Thomas Phipps, who died in 1825, while the east tablet is for Sarah Grace, who passed away in 1852. The north tablet refers to the wife of Thomas Phipps, but both the north and west tablets are badly eroded. The monument features an ogee moulded plinth, along with a moulded capstone and top.
