BAYSTON HILL C.P. L-shaped range of farmbuildings at Welbatch Farm

GV II

L-shaped range of farmbuildings. Probably early C19. Red brick, plain tile roofs. Long range (former threshing barn and cowsheds) aligned along east side of farmyard with a shorter range (also cowsheds) on north. 2 levels; dentilled eaves cornice; long range has roughly central blocked threshing entrance; scattered openings throughout - 2 original openings to right on first floor with doorway between, all with segmental heads, 3 later eaves hatches to left; 4 irregularly spaced doorways (one in blocking of threshing entrance) alternating with windows, again all with segmental heads; 3 tiers of lozenge-shaped air vents at left end: the north range consists of 2 adjoining cowsheds, left-hand one with roughly central entrance flanked by segmental-headed windows, eaves hatches; right-hand one with 2 tiers of lozenge-shaped air vents to upper level and central eaves hatch, 2 segmental- headed doorways to right. Interior: King-post roof throughout. Salop Fire Insurance plate at right-hand end. Included for group value.
