Description

The L-shaped range of farm buildings at Welbatch Farm, likely built in the early 19th century, is constructed of red brick with plain tile roofs. The long range, which was formerly used as a threshing barn and cowsheds, runs along the east side of the farmyard, while a shorter range, also used for cowsheds, is situated to the north. The buildings are two stories high and feature a dentilled eaves cornice.

The long range includes a roughly central blocked threshing entrance and has various openings, including two original first-floor openings to the right with a doorway between, all featuring segmental heads. There are three later eaves hatches to the left and four irregularly spaced doorways, one located in the blocking of the threshing entrance, alternating with windows, all with segmental heads. At the left end, there are three tiers of lozenge-shaped air vents.

The north range consists of two adjoining cowsheds. The left-hand cowshed has a roughly central entrance flanked by segmental-headed windows and eaves hatches, while the right-hand cowshed features two tiers of lozenge-shaped air vents at the upper level, a central eaves hatch, and two segmental-headed doorways to the right. The interior has a king-post roof throughout, and there is a Salop Fire Insurance plate at the right-hand end. This building is included for its group value.
