Description

Woodhall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates mainly from the early 18th century, although it incorporates parts of an earlier house and has seen later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile hipped roof that is largely concealed by a brick parapet with stone coping. The original house, located to the south, was likely timber framed but was partly demolished and rebuilt in red brick in the early 18th century when an L-shaped north range was added. This north front was raised to three storeys in the late 18th century.

The north front has three storeys over cellars and includes floor bands. It consists of six bays with glazing bar sashes that have gauged heads. The first-floor windows and the fourth bay from the left on the ground floor have 18 panes with original thick glazing bars. The entrance is located in the third bay from the left and features an 8-panel door with a bracketed hood. There is a late 18th-century central lead downpipe and two integral axial stacks on the back wall. The four-bay left return also has a central downpipe and blocked windows.

Inside, there is a staircase in the central hall that rises to the third floor, featuring three turned balusters on each tread and parquet floors on the landings. A room to the east on the ground floor contains plain oak panelling. Some re-used timbers can be found in the cellar, and in the attic, there is a wooden board inscribed "June.Wilm.Woley.1616," which may originate from the earlier house.
