Description
Home Farm Buildings is a likely late 18th century or early 19th century L-shaped range of barns, a cart shed, and a wall. Together with the northern and eastern ranges, these buildings form a rectangular farmyard.
The western range features a slate and grouted slate roof. Facing the farmyard from south to north, there are two single doorways with overlights and stone arches, two single doorways with timber lintels, one window with a stone arch, another single doorway with a similar arch, and another window with a stone arch. The wall shows the marks of four additional doors that have been blocked in, which were similar to the first door on the left.
The southern range also has a slate and grouted slate roof. Facing the farmyard on the eastern end is an added cart shed with a door featuring a brick arch. The ridge of the cart shed is lower than that of the main range, allowing for tiered dove holes on the end of the barn. The eastern end of the barn has two ventilation loops with a full-height wide doorway between them and an eight-bay collar truss roof. The western end is lofted, with one row of dove holes above a cart door below.
From the cart shed on the eastern side, a rubble stone wall, which includes a small lean-to, extends north to enclose the yard.
The northern and eastern ranges are included for their group value with Manorowen House, St Mary's Church, the walled garden, and the gazebo.
