Description
The gazebo in the walled garden at Manorowen is a summerhouse from the late 18th century, situated on a rocky outcrop. It is accessed by approximately 24 rough slate steps to the south, with a rubble stone wall to the left. The structure is constructed of roughcast rubble stone with brick dressings and features a pyramid-shaped slate roof. It has a nogged brick eaves cornice and a brick stack on the eastern side.
The gazebo has a square plan and is a single-storey building. It includes a cambered-arched door on the south side, with windows on the east and west sides, the east window still retaining its 8-pane glazing. There is also a broader elliptical arched window on the north side, all featuring red brick heads. The south front has a gable above the door, which includes a brick roundel opening into the roof space.
Inside, the walls and ceiling are plastered, and there is a fireplace on the eastern side, along with a recess on the northern wall to the right of the window. The floor is made of timber. The gazebo has been derelict since 1994.
