Description
This is a 17th-century threshing barn located approximately 10 metres north of Heath Farmhouse, with a 19th-century horse engine house. The barn features a weatherboarded timber frame with a limestone rubble plinth and a roof made of graded slate and corrugated iron. The engine house has coursed limestone rubble piers, with weatherboarding in between, and a hipped graded slate roof. The structure consists of three framed bays, with the polygonal horse engine house projecting from the centre bay to the north. The framing includes square panels, three up to the wall plate. Inside, there is an inserted 19th-century floor in the centre bay, a double purlin roof, queen strut end trusses with V-struts, and middle trusses with inclined queen struts. The engine house contains a machine-sawn king post truss.
