Description
This is a double threshing barn with a horse engine house, located about 10 meters south-east of Manor Farmhouse. It was built in 1830 and features random rubble local stone with brick dressing, a slate roof, and a horse engine house that has a bitumen covering topped with corrugated asbestos. The barn has a plan that includes a loading bay with a three-bay arcade at the south end and the horse engine house at the center of the east side.
On the west front, there are two segmental-headed double doorways covered with corrugated iron, along with a central boarded opening just below the eaves. The north and south ends have segmental-headed loft openings, and the south end features a three-bay semi-circular-headed arcade. The semi-circular engine house projects on the foldyard side and is now used as a milking parlour. Although the interior of the barn was not seen, it is said to contain a king post roof dated 1830, according to an unpublished report from February 1981.
