Description
The Old Coach House is a building that was originally stables and has been converted into a dwelling. It dates from the 18th century and has been significantly altered in the late 20th century. The structure is made of red brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped clay tile roof, along with a pyramid-shaped lead-roofed ventilation turret at the center. There are two tall brick chimneys located at the south-west corner of the garden front.
The building has a large range that adjoins Wellisford Manor in the south-east corner. It is two storeys high and has four bays. The upper level features 20th-century casement windows set above a double string course, with some nesting boxes integrated between them towards the north. The ground floor includes 20th-century windows, with three to the left of a 20th-century door and two to the right, as well as inserted garage doors with a concrete lintel. The end bay on the right has a door, and there is a glazed porch positioned at the angle of the south-east corner adjacent to Wellisford Manor. The Old Coach House is primarily listed for its group value and as a notable example of 18th-century brickwork.
