Description
Harpford Bridge is a road bridge over the River Tone, originally built in the late medieval period. The southern arch was constructed in 1852, with alterations made in the 20th century. The bridge is made of random rubble from local stone, featuring dressed voussoirs for the arches. The southern arch is made of red sandstone, and the parapet has been rebuilt in red brick with blue glazed brick saddleback coping. The bridge has a three-arch span, with the two northern arches being 4-centred and chamfered, while the central arch dies into the northern impost by cutwater. The southern arch is semi-circular and includes a keystone, along with two pointed cutwaters capped with cement.
