Description

Runnington House is a rectory that has been converted into a private dwelling. It was built in the early 19th century and underwent alterations in the early 20th century. The exterior is rendered and roughcast over rubble, with a concrete tile roof. The former coach house wing features a triple Roman tile roof, and there are brick stacks at the gable ends of both the main building and the coach house, as well as one rising from the gable end of the bakehouse.

The house is L-shaped and faces southeast. The left wing contains a bakehouse that is adjacent to the kitchen, which is to the left of the entrance. The right wing includes the coach house, which is next to the drawing room, with stairs located at the junction of the two wings. The building is two storeys high with a symmetrical facade featuring two sets of two bays. On the first floor, there are 9-pane sash windows, although the three bays to the right of the coach house have 20th-century replacements.

On the ground floor, the left side has a single bay for the bakehouse with a half-glazed entrance that has radiating glazing bars. To the left of this entrance are 12-pane sash windows, while to the right, there is a 6-panel door flanked by 12-pane sashes and a central casement window, which also features similar radiating glazing bars. The rear elevation has a semi-circular headed entrance to the coach house and two 2-light casements to the right.

The interior, which has been partly observed, includes an early 19th-century stick stair and moulded plasterwork with a vine leaf frieze in the room on the right. The rectory was sold in 1933.
