Description

This chest tomb, located 24 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Lawrence in Church Stretton, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a stepped cambered lid with plain edges. The sides have plain inclined panels with incised borders, and there are fluted corner piers. A plain weathered plinth is set below the side panels. The tomb commemorates Henry Gough, who died in 1848. It is included for its group value with the church.
