Description

The stables attached to the north-east side of Woodhill are a building from the mid-18th century, with some remodeling that occurred in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of red brick, with uncoursed rubble on the right return and rear, and feature a graded slate roof. The structure has two levels and includes a toothed eaves cornice with two-bay wings flanking a central slightly projecting pediment. This pediment has a wooden modillioned frieze and features 19th-century round-arched casements with grey brick heads on the first floor of the wings and in the outer bays on the ground floor, while stable doors are present in the inner bays. The pediment has 20th-century sliding doors inserted in a blocked twin segmental arch, with a blind roundel above. A 19th-century round-arched cupola sits on the ridge, topped with a miniature lead spire and a weathervane. The building is included for its group value.
