Description
This barn, located approximately 20 meters north-west of Hagley Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on an uncoursed limestone rubble plinth, topped with a slate roof. The barn has two levels, with a central door accessed by external steps and eaves hatches on both the left and right sides. Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of square panels with two extending from the cill to the wall-plate, and there is a raised threshing floor. The roof is a single-purlin design spanning three bays, incorporating a mix of Queen-strut trusses and raking struts that connect the tie beams to the principal rafters, along with straight windbraces and V-struts extending from the collar to the right gable end. An attached granary from the mid-19th century is located on the right side but is not considered to have special architectural interest. Hagley Farmhouse itself is not included in this listing.
