8/32 The Ridge Farmhouse -

Shown on O.S. map as Upper Ridge. Farmhouse. C17, eaves raised and remodelled late C18, extended mid- C19 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill, painted rubblestone to gable ends and C19 additions; graded slate roof. 2 storeys. Framing: square and rectangular panels, 2 from cill to original wall-plate with 2 light square panels above; 2 late C19 casements below eaves, one to each side of central C19 gabled brick porch, C19 casement to right on ground floor with C20 French window to left; integral reddish brown brick stack to right gable end and C20 end stack to left replacing massive axial stack. Stone and brick outshut to rear. Interior: chamfered cross beams in right ground-floor room; square panels exposed to back wall, one with lath and plaster infill visible but original roof trusses plastered over at time of resurvey (October 1985). Mid-C19 two-storey range at right-angles to left is not of special architectural interest.
